The Government of India has introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) a unique identification system under the One Nation, One Student ID initiative. This initiative aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP) objectives and aims to create a seamless academic record-keeping system for students across the country.
As per the directives of the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), many schools are generating APAAR IDs for their students. This digital ID card will serve as a permanent academic identity, helping students track their educational progress, store academic records, and facilitate smooth transitions between schools and universities. To proceed with the registration, parents are requested to fill out the consent form distributed in class or from the official site and submit it before the deadline.
What is APAAR ID?
As we have discussed above the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR ID) is a unique student identification system introduced by the Central Government under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is also known as the ‘One Nation, One Student ID Card’, ensuring seamless academic tracking from school to higher education.
The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC Bank) issues the APAAR ID, which functions as a digital education ecosystem register, commonly referred to as EduLocker. This system maintains a digital record of a student’s academic achievements, including degrees, certificates, scholarships, and other credits.
Benefits of APAAR ID Card for Students
- Seamless Academic Tracking => The APAAR ID is a permanent identification number that tracks a student’s academic progress from pre-primary to higher education.
- Digital Storage => It securely stores learning outcomes, report cards, health records, Olympiad rankings, skill training certifications, and co-curricular achievements.
- Easy Transfers Between Institutions => It facilitates smooth transitions between schools, colleges, and universities.
- Preventing Dropouts => APAAR ID helps the government track students at risk of dropping out, ensuring they remain connected to educational opportunities.
- Centralized Academic Records => The APAAR ID is directly linked to ABC Bank, ensuring academic credits are recorded digitally and remain valid across all Indian educational institutions.
- Comprehensive Student Profile => It includes details such as name, address, date of birth, gender, academic history, extracurricular activities, scholarships, awards, and more.
